Equity Calculators When you’re trying to figure out equity (essentially your chance of winning a pot in a given situation), crunching the math quickly becomes daunting as complexity rears its head. Factor in stacks, ranges, and position, and you have one heck of a calculation on your hands.
That’s why the best poker players use these equity calculators to evaluate their thinking behind certain actions and hands: PokerStrategy.com Equilab. We had to make an appearance in our own ‘best of’ list. We built this tool because we wanted access to a simple, free fold equity calculator. Judging by the traffic this page gets, you do too!
Our calculator answers the question, “If you shove, how often does Villain need to fold?” Simply fill in four values (pot size before shove, how much you have to call, how much you’re shoving, estimated equity when called) and get your break even percentage if Villain folds. That info is worth its weight in chips. For the record, we also have a that’s worth bookmarking. This can show you what the EV of your play is, just by inputting your expected profit and loss, and your estimated odds of winning the pot. Results Tracking Mobile Apps Another category of important software for poker players are apps to track your results. Think of these as a diagnostic tools for your game. We don’t want to encourage you to be too results-oriented, but you should be keeping a pulse on your game at all times.
Are you on a heater? Don’t get cocky. On a downswing? Is it a leak or just variance? Answering these questions is the difference between winning and losing, and the right app will always give you invaluable data to help form an educated analysis.
Poker math apps are highly specialized and fairly rare. There are dozens of poker tracking apps out there.
While we can’t review them all, here are a couple that our coaches and players swear by: Poker Income Pro – Bankroll Tracker Cost: free version, or $9.99 / available on Android, iOs & Windows Phone The highest-rated poker tracking app of all-time, Poker Income Pro is unquestionably a popular choice among players. Its overall design is very basic and easy to interface with.
Stats abound in various list views, and there are graphs to chart progress as well. What this app lacks in flashy bells and whistles, in more than makes up for in comprehensive analysis. Every view can be filtered by an advanced set of criteria to arrive at a depth of analysis you’ll be hard-press to find in many other apps. For bankroll tracking, this app is basically standard. Poker Analytics Cost: $29.99/year / Only available for iOS A real Swiss army knife on an app, Poker Analytics is a fully customizable game tracker.
And by fully customizable, I mean you can input a custom field to track how working out affects your win rate. It’s insane what this app can do. At the core is a user-friendly interface that makes the basic functions of inputting data and visualizing results a snap. You can also input hand histories for later off-table analysis. With frequent updates and features added, Poker Analytics strikes a nice balance between ease of use and under-the-hood customization power.
Just surprised you left out CardRunnerEV (used to be StoxEV).an amazing program for exploitative playand can be used to work out optimal play as well (seen a few videos where coaches use it that way) It is written by the same author as flopzilla with a similar interface, but allows for multiple round and player decision trees. Has a bit of a learning curve but once you get over ityou set up hands in about 30 minutes or so, and then can change assumptions quickly to get a feel for diffrent ranges lines and boards. I use it now for most of my hand reviews.
It can even be used for quickly getting Eds 1% as you can put your range against itself, and filter for the top x% of hands against your range on a particular flop, turn and river. It cost about $99 but a limited free version is available. Who wrote this article? I ask this without prejudice.
Couldn’t anyone google poker software and come up with a list? What matters to me is Why. Why would I want to use Flopzilla instead of Combonator. I mean the author says “Flopzilla is the best “poker calculator” available. ” Does CREV agree? How about Poker Ranger?
What exactly is “Best” about Flop Z? Is CREV or Poker Ranger less accurate? Why would I want to choose GTORB rather than Pio Solver? Why not get both? Expert analysis from Advanced Poker Training?
Why would I ever want to pay for coaching again? If you have a list, do a little extra work, don’t just ‘mail it in’. Tell us the “why”. Steve PS sadly, I got more value from Adam’s post about the article than anything inside the article itself. Thanks Adam ?.

Hey folks, wanted to respond to some of the questions & concerns. First off, we definitely should have been clearer on what this article was: A list of all the poker software previously mentioned in Red Chip Poker videos, podcasts and articles. We titled it “Best Poker Analysis Software 2016” because we knew that’s how we’d get the most people to find it. As Doug says, we always intended this to be a “work in progress”. We knew there were other applications we wanted to include, and should have done a better job stating that from the get-go. To that end, I have added an editor’s note to the top of this article to avoid any further confusion. I wanted to make sure every application on the list was vetted by a coach.
Using the list of already-vetted apps was the easiest way to do this. Going forward, I’m committed to editing and adding to this list until it reflects what both our coaches and our community regard as an accurate and complete ‘Best’ list. I’m going to get started right away by adding HUDs and some of the other platforms mentioned here.
I do appreciate everyone who left a comment with an addition or correction, they will all be taken into account as we work to improve this article. Keep them coming!
The post proved me with the motivation to start a new thread: Title: NLTH as Seen By Macintosh Users. Since there is no category as Computer Platform I placed this thread in General Concepts. I realize that Windoze users are a dominate group in most environments, but the poker world is changing and some IOS developers are returning to this platform for development. I, like most Mac users have turn to VMWare Fusion which is a virtual machine on the Mac.
It works and I got because everyone here uses Flopzilla. It is not without it’s problems. Still, I like the “Best” post and I did not think it would or should cover every Poker Tool ever created.
